On May 6th 2017, I'm walking in Darkness Into Light Carrick on Shannon with Hannah, Dave and our friends and family to remember and celebrate our beautiful, loving and fun daughter, sister and friend Naoise Bird.
I would also like to take this opportunity to share some of my words from her eulogy..
...'We do not know what sadness or darkness blocked Naoise's view of the love and friendships with which she was always surrounded, and which stopped her from seeing the great joy she brought to everyone whose lives she touched. We do not know what ignited that moment of madness which snatched her away.
But we do know there was a better choice, and that there is always a better choice. To anyone who might find ever themselves in the place or close to the place in which our beloved Naoise found herself, we just want to take this moment to say: the painful moment will pass, and a better moment will come in its place. A life, as Naoise taught us in her 19 short years, is such a rich and precious gift for each of us and for the people we share that life with. . There is always a better choice..... It will be ok.'
As Naoises friends and family this is our small contribution to a global movement to raise awareness and funds for the prevention of suicide.
The funds we raise will enable Pieta House to provide life-saving support to those living in the shadows...to help save lives....and to help prevent other families and friends from the daily loss, hurt, emptiness and sadness of those of us left behind.
Won't you please support our efforts by joining us on the walk in Carrick on Shannon or with members of our family in Cavan or at any of the other numerous locations or by making a donation to Pieta House? Every euro makes BIG a difference.
